Poor
little Cleo has had a very hard time in her short
life. For some reason she was in Animal Control (the
pound) and adopted from there. A few months later
we were called by an animal hospital about a Chihuahua
with severe allergies requiring treatment that the
owner could not afford. When Cleo came to us she was
so swollen around the face and neck that she must
have been in intense pain. She had patches of dead
skin in several spots on her body. She was admitted
to the hospital where she stayed for almost a month.
She had septicemia not allergies. On admission she
was treated with IVs and antibiotics, and had several
procedures over the next weeks to remove the dead
skin on the neck and ear. She did lose most of one
ear but we are grateful that we did not lose our Cleo.
Her wounds appear to have been bites that I would
suspect were from a dog.
In
the first week of December Cleo had the large wound
on her neck closed. She has been with us since Aug
27, 2007 and is now on her last leg of recovery. It
has been a long journey for Cleo but she has been
so sweet and such a good little girl.
Cleo will need a special home with people who are
gentle and kind. She has had so much trauma that her
new home must offer her security and love for a lifetime.
